Swisshhhhh: A Day at Keystone

As you may have seen if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, HBL and I hit the slopes at Keystone.

If you know me well, you know that skiing has been my mortal enemy since, at age 6, I fell on my face and slid about 100 feet on pure ice. I looked like Frankenstein (or worse) for about two months. Kids in my 1st grade class cried when they saw me in the hallways. Talk about scarring, both literally and physically.

But in the past few years I’ve had so many opportunities to go skiing that I decided I finally had to face what I think is my biggest fear. After all, I have missed enough Après already, so I need to make up for some severely lost time!

I am still a little wobbly, so it’s great to have a serious pro in HBL alongside me to inspire me (and sometimes push me down the mountain when I have a cowardly moment). On this particular occasion, he even tried snowboarding so I wouldn’t feel like such a novice compared to him, but since I catch on much faster than he does, I think he’ll be sticking to skis from now on!

(Pardon the quality of the snaps, don’t trust my Lumix out on the slopes when I’m falling all over the place, so the iPhone had to suffice!)

See the amazing mountains behind the slope?
Snowboarding was NOT his thing- I definitely beat him most runs!

Awesome picture and view behind us!
Ew. We were squinting into the sun. But another great view behind us!

How was your weekend?

Skiinng is actually quite a fun activity, I love to do it from time to time.

These are some really great photos! Keystone is a very beautiful place.

Have you ever been? It is SO beautiful, I feel very lucky to get to "live" in Denver (most of the time!) and therefore get to Keystone pretty regularly.
